Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism publishes the Phase 1 multiple-dose study of eloralintide

Phase I P1 Primary public evidence Peer-reviewed publication

On 20 January 2026 Bhattachar and colleagues published a 12-week Phase 1 multiple-ascending-dose study of eloralintide in 100 participants with obesity or overweight at three US centres. Least-squares mean weight reduction at week 12 ranged from 2.6% to 11.3% across dose groups.

Background and context

Who wrote it and who took part

All nine authors list Eli Lilly and Company, Exploratory Medicine and Pharmacology, in Indianapolis. Enrolment ran from 30 March 2022 to 25 January 2024 at three US centres. Participants had a mean age of 44 years and a mean BMI of 32.6, and 29% were female.

How the study was run

The abstract describes once-weekly subcutaneous dosing without dose escalation, in five multiple-ascending-dose cohorts compared with placebo, with participants and investigators blinded. With no step-up phase, the tolerability findings do not describe a schedule that raises the amount gradually.

What the abstract leaves out

It gives no trial registration number, so this entry is not linked to a trial record on this site. It does report that drug exposure rose in proportion to dose at week 12.
